CGC & Dog “Joust” Class

Pre-requisite: Participants must receive instructor’s prior permission to attend this class. Contact instructor.

Objective: To give owners of both normal and reactive-recovering dogs an opportunity to experience training success in increasingly complex, yet controlled environments by gradually increasing the level of external stimulation and number of distractions their dogs must contend with. We do this in brief challenges indoors or outdoors-- with other dogs and people, etc. performing various activities—“jousts.” Our goal is to rehearse dogs and owners in CGC type skills and learn greeting and leaving skills in a relatively safe and controlled environment so that dog and owner can learn to trust one another and co-exist calmly with others in real life (and for the CGC test).

Instructor and instructor’s dogs, as well as other objects, animals, and students and their dogs, in class will all potentially be used as distraction “bait.”

Classes: 4 one hour classes in a session package, limited to 6 dogs & handlers.
