BEST BUDDIES PUPPY KINDERGARTEN CLASSES are open to a limited number of dogs (maximum of 8). The whole family can attend. Positive reinforcement is emphasized in all training. We use positive reinforcement training at Raspberry Ridge because it works & because it's fun. It is used to train killer whales and grizzly bears. It works on puppies, too! Fact & Aims: The number one cause of pre-mature dog death in the U.S. is euthanasia for behavior problems. Puppy Kindergarten helps to inoculate your dog from this pitiful end! The main focus is to give your pup an opportunity to acquire important social skills, which he/she can learn only by playing and interacting normally with other dogs. This is fun! During play, if necessary, we will initially group the puppies by size and social abilities, with the hope of eventually and safely integrating all puppies together. Simple obedience is introduced. Basic house manner issues will be covered, including topics such as grooming, playing, exercising, handling, feeding & sleeping. The method of "L.E.T.S." to prevent and solve problem behaviors is explained and used. Facilities include an indoor obedience barn (40 foot x 60 foot room, heated), an indoor lecture living room, 65 acres of pasture fields, fenced and non-fenced. Puppies are given barriers to hide/run under and behind (as well as lots of Positive Reinforcement.) Ages/Breeds/Health: 2-6 months - all breeds-- dog must be healthy, up-to-date on all vaccinations appropriate to age and has not been in contact with any dogs with communicable diseases within the previous 30 days. ALSO AVAILABLE AT RASPBERRY RIDGE: "Basic" Pet Obedience, "Advanced Basic," AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Classes, Aggressive Dog/Difficult Dog Rehabilitation, Private Obedience Lessons, Herding Training, Flyball, Competition Obedience, Tracking, & Agility Practice. Group classes, private classes, seminars, clinics, camps for you and your dog, Chase Class, and "fun days."
